Grocers in Switzerland use a variety of shop formats in different sizes. Obtaining planning permission for shops smaller 500 m² has become very difficult in many Swiss cantons. When we evaluate new sites for retailers, we consider a variety of criteria such as nearby competition, the catchment area, and the number of available parking places. The three discount chains Denner, Aldi and Lidl are continually adding new locations.
